Quality Assurance Lead (SAP S/4HANA) - Toronto, On.

Toronto, ON, Canada
Full Time
Manager/Supervisor

About Dokainish & Company

Since 2011, Dokainish & Company has been delivering world-class project management and project controls consultancy services. We specialize in working diligently and collaboratively with our clients to achieve long-lasting, impactful results across numerous business functions.

Our areas of expertise include Project Controls, Project Management, Quantitative Risk Analysis, Organizational Change Management, Enterprise Reporting, Estimating, Asset Management, and System Implementation for Capital Projects. We draw upon decades of project experience to deliver customized solutions to our clients’ most complex challenges.

We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Lead to join our high-performing, diverse, and innovative consulting team, supporting a large-scale SAP S/4HANA implementation for a well-established client within the nuclear sector.

The Opportunity

The QA Lead will own the end-to-end test strategy and quality governance for a complex, regulated SAP S/4HANA implementation. The engagement is currently in the design phase, with user stories already drafted, so the immediate priority is to establish the testing approach, make requirements testable, and stand up the test data and integration testing foundations before build. A key early deliverable is to define the testing scope, approach, and resourcing model, including the number, seniority, and skill mix of QA automation engineers required. This assessment will form the basis for how the test team is subsequently built out, and the QA Lead will support the recruitment, technical screening, and onboarding of those engineers before leading and scaling the team. The role combines this test strategy and governance leadership with hands-on ownership of the Tricentis Tosca automation strategy, defect management, and release readiness across integrated business systems. Beyond the initial phase, the QA Lead continues to lead test execution through all subsequent cycles, owns quality reporting into program governance, and holds accountability for the formal quality sign-off on test completion and platform release readiness at go-live. This is a client-side quality leadership role that includes oversight of testing performed by the systems integrator and delivery teams.

Location & Travel

This is a full-time, non-remote, in-office position based in Toronto, Ontario, with regular travel to client sites as required within the GTA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the overall test strategy for the S/4HANA program, defining test phases (unit and string, system integration, user acceptance, regression, performance, and data migration and cutover validation), along with entry and exit criteria, environments, and governance.

  • During design, review drafted user stories and requirements for testability, acceptance criteria quality, and coverage; establish and maintain the requirements traceability matrix linking user stories to test cases and defects.

  • Define and own the test data management strategy, including provisioning of referentially consistent master and transactional data, refresh approach, and data masking or anonymization suitable for a regulated environment. Test data readiness is treated as a first-class deliverable, not an afterthought.

  • Lead System Integration Testing across cross-module SAP processes and cross-system end-to-end business scenarios spanning integrated applications, APIs, and middleware.

  • Plan and coordinate data migration validation and mock cutover rehearsals, including reconciliation testing between legacy and S/4HANA.

  • Define the test automation strategy using Tricentis Tosca, including model-based and risk-based coverage, reusable components, and automation best practices; design and maintain scalable, maintainable frameworks and build the regression baseline progressively across build waves.

  • Lead automation across end-to-end SAP processes (S/4HANA, ECC, Fiori) and integrated applications, and maintain the suites for stability, execution speed, and clear, actionable reporting.

  • Establish security, role, and authorization testing, including segregation-of-duties considerations, recognizing that Fiori-based results are role dependent.

  • Plan performance, volume, and period-close and batch job testing on S/4HANA (HANA) under production-representative data volumes.

  • Establish QA standards for requirements quality, acceptance criteria, testability, and traceability, and oversee defect management, including clear logging, reproducible steps, impact assessment, and root cause analysis support.

  • Track and report on quality metrics, including automation coverage, defect leakage, pass rates, and release readiness indicators, and present quality status, risks, and readiness into program governance and steering forums, maintaining auditable test evidence appropriate to a regulated client.

  • Own the quality gate for the program: define entry and exit criteria for each test phase, formally close out test phases, and provide the quality sign-off and go/no-go recommendation on test completion and platform release readiness at go-live.

  • Assess and define the QA resourcing model for the program, including the number, seniority, and skill mix of QA automation engineers and other testing resources required. This is a key early deliverable that will form the basis for subsequent hiring.

  • Support the recruitment and technical screening of QA automation engineers, onboard them, and then build, lead, mentor, and scale the QA team as it grows.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional business stakeholders, the systems integrator, and vendor teams to support release schedules.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 4-year university degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience with a strong SAP functional testing background will also be considered.

  • 8-10 years of relevant QA experience, including test strategy, test planning, and test automation on large SAP implementations.

  • Demonstrated S/4HANA delta knowledge that affects testing, with hands-on experience testing against changes such as the Universal Journal (ACDOCA) and FI and CO reconciliation, new Asset Accounting, the Business Partner model, Material Ledger, and Fiori application testing versus classic SAP GUI. Experience limited to ECC is not sufficient on its own.

  • Proven experience leading System Integration Testing and overall test strategy on a full-lifecycle SAP implementation, not solely support or application maintenance.

  • Hands-on expertise with Tricentis Tosca, including Tosca Commander, Test Data Service (TDS), and Distributed Execution (DEX), for designing and maintaining automated test suites in SAP environments (GUI, Fiori, and API).

  • Demonstrated experience defining and executing a test data management strategy for an SAP program, including data provisioning and masking.

  • Strong understanding of complex SAP landscapes (S/4HANA and ECC) and cross-module business processes (for example P2P and FICO), sufficient to develop accurate test scenarios and assess coverage.

  • Experience testing in a regulated or audited environment (for example nuclear, utilities, energy, or comparable) with auditable test evidence and formal controls is strongly preferred.

  • Proven experience building and leading QA teams and owning release readiness, including the quality sign-off and go/no-go recommendation through to go-live, in coordination with cross-functional stakeholders and a systems integrator.

  • Experience sizing and scoping test efforts and defining a QA resourcing model (the number and skill mix of testers and automation engineers) for a large program, and experience participating in the recruitment and technical screening of QA engineers.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of driving quality across large, complex systems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.

  • Exposure to asset-intensive or capital project environments (for example EAM, Plant Maintenance, or Project System and WBS) is an asset.

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.

  • This is a full-time, non-remote, in-office position based in Toronto, Ontario, with regular travel to client sites as required within the GTA.
